Got game? The Warren County Historical Society’s Trail of History Challenge V is set to begin on May 12, 2025. Part scavenger hunt and part treasure hunt, this competition requires players to collect answers from around the county.

To get your game on, start with a visit to the Warren County Historical Society at 210 Fourth Ave., Warren, PA, any time this summer. The $10 registration fee provides you a clue packet and instructions for loads of fun! Each clue requires you to travel to a different part of Warren County to discover the answer.

Play as an individual or part of team, and spend your summer learning more about beautiful Warren County. But hurry! By September, it will be game over. Completed answer sheets returned by Friday, September 5, 2025, at 4:00 PM will be entered into a drawing for the prize pack. One of Erie’s most popular annual events, The Great American Book Sale, returns to the Flo Fabrizio Ice Arena, 527 West 38th Street, Erie, PA 16509, on Sunday, June 15th. The sale runs from Sunday through Friday, June 20th. With over 75,000 gently used books, audiobooks on CD, music CDs, DVD’s, and puzzles. There is something for everyone. Books available range from recent fiction, mystery, history, science fiction, and a greatly expanded children’s book section. Sports, travel, religion, home and crafts and self-help are well-represented as well.

Book prices will be $2 for hardcover books and large sized paperbacks and $1 for regular paperbacks for the first few days of the sale. Children’s book prices are $1 for hardcover and $.50 for paperbacks.

Also on sale will be a selection of specially priced high quality collectible books including very attractive coffee table books, Erie history titles and nearly new gardening and cookbooks.

Beginning on June 15th, the sale will run from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday through Thursday, June 19th and Friday, June 20th (bag day) from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. We invite the public to come early for the best selection and return often during the week to discover even more hidden treasures!

Parking is free. Proceeds from the sale benefit the Erie County Public Library. The Friends of the Erie County Library fund a variety of educational programs, classes, events, and activities for all ages.

Ever wanted to try your hand at artisan lettering? Join the Hornby School Restoration Society for an in-person instruction on Spencerian Script (the font used in logos for Cola-Cola and Ford) delivered in a restored one-room schoolhouse. Expert instructors will provide a 2-hour session suitable for beginning calligraphers, continue practicing at home to become proficient.

Program is open to ages 10+ and is limited to 15 attendees. Registration required.

This in-person, hands on workshop will be held at the PA Soldiers & Sailors Memorial Cemetery. Participants will be trained to properly clean old gravestones then be able to work on an individual gravestones--dating from the Civil war to present. All materials will be provided. Sessions are about two hours long and designed for ages 12 & older.

Registration is required; a morning (9-11am) and evening session (5:30-7:30pm) are available.

Participant Advisory: Wear old clothes, shoes and gloves (materials are non-toxic). This event is outdoors; bring sunscreen and water bottle. Event will be cancelled for severe weather only, light rain will still be held. There are no bathroom facilities.

Program Location: PA S & S Memorial Cemetery, 560 East Third St, Erie, PA. Please stop at the guardhouse first then proceed down the drive around the S & S Home, turn left onto the bridge then turn immediately to the right to the cemetery.

About the Presenter: Preservation Erie is an organization that believes the future of a region is deeply rooted in its past. Mary Jane Koenig is the chairperson of the Presque Isle Chapter DAR Service for Veterans Committee. Both are passionate about preserving history and respecting the final resting places of veterans.

Learn from scratch or brush up your skills with ECPL's computer classes! Continued from part I Excel: cells, formulas, titles, borders, formatting, charts, graphs, and spreadsheet navigation, among other topics. You should take this class only if you have completed Intro to Excel Part 1.

This class requires a $5 fee to reserve your seat in the class. Payment is non-refundable. You must register for each individual class you wish to attend.

You must pre-pay in person at Blasco Memorial Library’s Information Desk to reserve your seat. We're sorry, but we cannot take pre-registration over the phone.

These classes are taking place in-person at the Blasco Library's second floor Room 219. Please arrive to class on time.

The WQLN PBS STREAM Machine is coming to the Iroquois Branch Library!

"Get ready for an exciting learning adventure! The WQLN PBS STREAM Machine is a mobile classroom on wheels, bringing hands-on educational experiences right to your neighborhood.

Designed for ages pre-K through Grade 2, the STREAM Machine delivers interactive lessons that blend science, technology, reading, engineering, art, and math.

Join us for a forty-five minute session with our energetic STREAM Team, where your children will engage in creative activities and expand their understanding of the world around them."
